About Me
Three words that would describe me are: Adventurous, open-minded and reliable.
I am passionate about all things that involve writing in all shapes, sizes and forms, with past experience in blogging, reviewing, editing, curating, managing social media accounts as well as penning articles for both print and online, press releases and newsletters.
My journalistic interests lie in news and entertainment but I am especially keen on writing features that allow you to be more creative in writing and to get your teeth into an article-from researching it, to interviewing people, to listening to their stories, to piecing it together in an engaging and thought-provoking way. I prefer writing about social and topical debates, especially on issues that affect minority groups such as ethnic minorities, disabled people and even gender issues, whilst understanding the value of objectivity.
I currently write for The Salfordian, 45-Magazine, My Student Style and my own blog, Screenbeanz (see links above). I used my experience to take on the responsibility of being online editor of The Salfordian in September and the Film and TV Editor of 45-Magazine in March 2014.
As well as doing a journalism degree I am also studying for the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism having passed the Reporting, Court Reporting, Essential Media Law, Essential Public Affairs and the E-portfolio exams.
I have recently gained valuable insight interning at The Nubian Times for three weeks in November and doing a week's placement at the Oldham/Salford/Tameside Advertiser office. I am excited to start a 3 month internship at Viva Magazine based in Manchester in June next year. I am also looking forward to writing for The Nubian Times again but on a freelance basis in January 2015.
My dream job is to work in magazines writing features but I would like to be a print and/or online journalist too.
